Premiere of DATING RULES FROM MY FUTURE SELF, web series from the producers of GOSSIP GIRL!

I’m a little late in posting this, but this past week the web series DATING RULES FROM MY FUTURE SELF, from Alloy Entertainment (GOSSIP GIRL, VAMPIRE DIARIES, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), premiered on Facebook and YouTube. So far the response has been great, which makes me happy, as I think the project is pretty adorable. Great cast: Shiri Appleby (ROSWELL, LIFE UNEXPECTED), Alison Becker (PARKS AND RECREATION), Mircea Monroe (EPISODES), Bryce Johnson (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), Taylor Kinney (VAMPIRE DIARIES), and Martin Starr (PARTY DOWN). And, as you’ve probably guessed, I wrote the music for it.

If you’re not one of the 360,000+ (and climbing!) people who have seen the premiere, check it out at the DATING RULES YouTube channel, or the DATING RULES Facebook page.

YouTube comments for Classic Schmosby Remix — because I have nothing else better to do

I actually do have more important things I should be doing. A long list of them. But as I ate my post-lunch popsicle, I decided to check up on the CBS YouTube posting of the Classic Schmosby Remix from this week’s HIMYM, and wanted to share the comments that made me the most happy…

1) Every comment in Finnish.
2) “The hell with Justin beiber.. this remix Song OWNED all his song hands down… !!”
3) “I’m gonna play this song when I have my wedding”
4) “Oh my god , this should be top on billboard . lol”
4) “Damn it!! This remix is stuck in my head like a splinter! Like a splinter sized splinter.”
5) “This is my New Ringtone”

Classic Schmosby Remix! From the season 7 premiere of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER…

Wrote and co-sang the autotune joke from last night’s season premiere of HIMYM. Words by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Lead vocals by Josh Radnor. Classic Schmosby!

I hear it’s big in Finland.

Bomberman Trailer from The Game Station and Country Club Pictures!

So here’s another piece of ridiculousness from Nathan Kitada and Aaron Umetani (Country Club Pictures) and YouTube’s The Game Station. Big, absurd trailer music by me, including lots of references to the original Bomberman theme music. Link to the MP3 also below, including download. Enjoy!

I’m posting this late because I’ve been in a work cave involving the film NAILED, starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal, directed — and abandoned — by David O. Russell. Score by John Swihart, orchestration by myself and my USC friend Daniel James Chan. More on that to come later.

SWITCHED AT BIRTH premieres on ABC Family

Very excited for SWITCHED AT BIRTH, a new scripted drama on ABC Family that will be premiering June 6th at 9:00pm. I’ll be composing additional music for the show every week, alongside John Swihart.

From ABC Family’s official website:

Switched at Birth, a one-hour scripted drama, tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.

Switched at Birth stars newcomer Katie Leclerc as Daphne Vasquez; Vanessa Marano (Gilmore Girls) as Bay Kennish; Constance Marie (George Lopez) as Regina Vasquez; D.W. Moffett (Friday Night Lights) as John Kennish; Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Caroline in the City) as Kathryn Kennish; and Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical) as Toby Kennish.

Check out a preview below, as well as some great promotional images.

Sometimes I read YouTube comments to see if anyone cares about the music…

… and this person does.

Bros Mario 2 comment from YouTube...

Thank you, Brothers Mario 2 commenter I have never met.

Brothers Mario 2: Kong Country!

As promised, here’s the new Brothers Mario trailer from Country Club Pictures, aka Nathan Kitada and Aaron Umetani.

The score (and the score to the first Brothers Mario) will be available on iTunes shortly. This one’s an orchestral remake of the SNES Donkey Kong Country main title music. If that reference makes sense to you, then you are this video’s target audience.

Enjoy!

“Duck Hunt 3D” music, in glorious stereo

In many cases (maybe all cases), the “Duck Hunt 3D” YouTube video seems to be playing back in mono, and at a lower bitrate. Which is odd/annoying. So if you are super curious about what the music sounds like on its own, here it is.

I didn’t remember the music from the original Duck Hunt game, but if you do, maybe you’ll be able to hear the quotes more clearly now.

(Right-click the download link to save. I don’t personally like to work out to parody trailer music, but maybe you do. Which is totally fine. Not judging.)

“Duck Hunt 3D” trailer, from the people that brought you “The Brothers Mario”

Here’s a new spoof trailer from Country Club Pictures, the team that brought you “The Brothers Mario” (3.7 million views and counting!) — music again by yours truly. More geektastic references abound. AND you can watch it in 3D if you have the glasses. Enjoy!

PS — “The Brothers Mario 2″ is on the way…
