HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE opens today!

Great review by Kirk Honeycutt in The Hollywood Reporter, with a snippet on production value that I’m obviously going to take as a direct compliment: “This behind-the-camera support team does fine work that doesn’t allow a limited budget to get in the way. Happy represents the happy side of indie filmmaking, where a movie achieves studio-level production values but thankfully without the gloss and language-police that invariably accompanies romantic comedies.” See how he was talking about the string arrangements there? See that?

Whatever, go see it.

“The Brothers Mario” trailer on YouTube’s Game Station

Just did the score (and whistling!) for a spoof trailer now going viral on YouTube for “The Brothers Mario,” created by Nathan Kitada and Aaron Umetani via Grand Theft Auto’s game engine. Check it out…

BACKWASH premiered this week!

Was a mad rush to the finish line, but many props to Josh Malina (writer / producer / actor), Danny Leiner (producer / director), Daniel Schnider (producer), and Matthew Rohrs (editor) in fighting the good fight and making something so memorable. And because I can, I’m going to post the first four episodes HERE so you don’t even have to go to Crackle.com to watch. And now you can go do something special for your loved ones with the time I saved by eliminating half a dozen clicks from your life.

The score by John Swihart and myself covers a lot of ground, from disco to Broadway to old Hollywood. Hope you enjoy.

Oh, I would also like to note that working on this project allowed me to fulfill one of my lifelong dreams — getting photographed with John Cho. (At the premiere.) The universe, in fact, did not implode, as many of my friends thought it would.

Not really about me, but sort of about me…

“… a lagniappe, an extra, a step beyond what is needed to get the joke delivered or the point made, a flash of that generosity and inventiveness that produced Ted’s superdate song, my favorite moment on any sitcom last year and the bedrock of my faith in HIMYM…”

- Donna Bowman, The A.V. Club, in her latest HIMYM episode review.

One of my favorite projects from last season too.

The HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 100th episode musical extravaganza “Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit,” written by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, arranged and orchestrated by myself and John Swihart, was just nominated for the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics Emmy! Congrats to Carter and Craig for the well-deserved nomination! Was truly a privilege to get to work on the project.

Check out the official nomination at the Emmys website.

And just because, here is a picture of me from ScoringSessions.com (via Dan Goldwasser) recording piano for the song.
